Mortal Kombat 1, released in 2023, is actually a reboot of the classic 1992 fighting game of the same name. It’s the twelfth main installment in the popular Mortal Kombat series. This rebooted Mortal Kombat 1 features a new story set in a timeline shaped by the fire god Liu Kang. It explores the origins of the iconic Mortal Kombat tournament where Earthrealm warriors fight for the fate of their world against Outworld invaders. Mortal Kombat 1 retains the series’ core fighting mechanics with a focus on combos, special moves, and brutal finishing attacks, known as Fatalities. New to this iteration is the Kameo Fighters feature, which allows you to call upon an assist character during fights for extra offense or defense. The game offers various play modes, including a story mode, online multiplayer with rollback netcode for smoother online play, and single-player Invasions mode with RPG elements where you fight off invaders and earn rewards.
